A Week in the Life

Sunday we celebrated my mom's 65th birthday. She is one amazing woman. People who know her first and then meet me almost universally testify of her amazingness. She is that wonderful. So we hosted a family party for her - my brother and his family were even here from Wisconsin! It was such fun to see them and to be altogether. What can I say besides that?!

Monday we had off from school so we took Lily to the vet to have her stitches out from her spay surgery (no more cone of shame, hooray!) then went to Lodi for Dr. Hoff appointments. In the afternoon Jeff took Ethan and friend and Eliza to see Star Wars in 3D. The happiest part of that was that Ethan actually branched out and called to invite some new friends to come along. That's a milestone a long time in the making!

Valentine's Day evening I spent at my dance class in Berkeley with my gay teacher. It was as heavenly as ever! And, just as promised, I came home a much happier Valentine for my real Love.

Wednesday morning was out to breakfast with my Mom and Sis for Mom's real birthday. I definitely love eating at Katy's Kreek. Even if they do insist on misspelling creek.

Thursday I walked with my friend Jennifer. After walking 1-3 mornings/week for years, we've been on hiatus for the last 5 months or so. We determined to aim for 1 time per week. The long hiatus helped us realize that we really need each other...

Friday Eliza's "boyfriend" from kindergarten came to play after school. Let me just say that having a boy over to play was delightful. NO drama, whatsoever!! That night I did see real drama, but the good kind, when my amazing niece Maddie performed in "All My Sons" at her high school. She is amazing because she can portray such an intense, mature character, and she's just 16. I'm seriously proud of her.

Saturday Jeff spent the morning at Lowe's picking up our special order items for our new bathroom! I was soooo happy to unload those into our garage and now can hardly wait for the work to begin! We drove to Lodi that afternoon to visit with Jim & Crystal and 3 girls. We love our family!

Today we'll be celebrating my niece Sophie's birthday. 13, really? I simply adore this girl, I hope she knows that.

and here's the picture of the week:

Lily, when she escapes from the living area of the house (dog zone) into the bedroom area (no-dog zone), beelines straight for our big bathtub and jumps right in. She's had a few baths in there and apparently wants another.
